Introduction
Well, I am not easily persuaded to use this website for promotional purposes,
but the planned release of a series of newly remastered editions of Vangelis'
classic soundtrack albums for the seventies documentaries of
Frédéric Rossif is a well deserved exception!
Cherry Red Records in the UK have announced the re-issues of "L'Apocalypse
Des Animaux", "La Fete Sauvage" and "Opera
Sauvage" on their Esoteric Recordings label on the 25th of April 2011. After
successful remastered releases of the first two
Aphrodite's Child albums "End Of The World"
and "It's Five O' Clock" last year, Esoteric is
now shifting focus to the solo work of Vangelis, and again with Vangelis'
personal supervision on the remastering process. These issues are now up for
pre-order at
Esoteric Recordings!
Word is that after this series of remastered re-issues, there may be more to
follow... Let's keep our fingers crossed!

L'Apocalypse
Des Animaux (ECLECD 2263)
Esoteric Recordings are proud to release a newly remastered edition of
Vangelis’ classic soundtrack to “L’Apocalypse Des Animaux”, a film made in
1973 by the famous French documentary maker Frederic Rossif. The music
written and recorded by Vangelis was a fine example of the maestro’s ability
to compose music that both suited the visual images of the film maker and
stirred the emotions of the listener. Recorded prior to Vangelis’
experiments with synthesisers, the music for “L’Apocalypse des Animaux” was
a breathtaking example of his dexterity as a musician and composer,
utilising the keyboard technology of the day to its fullest and previously
untapped potential. Unreleased in Britain until 1976, the soundtrack album
is now rightly regarded as a classic of both the genre and of Vangelis’
remarkable body of recordings.
The Esoteric Recordings reissue has been remastered under the supervision
of Vangelis himself and is initially released as a limited edition deluxe
Digi Pack with fully restored artwork.

music that both suited the visual images of the film maker and stirred the
emotions of the listener. The music was recorded in December 1975 at
Vangelis’ Nemo Studios in London and is a breathtaking example of his

recorded by Vangelis was a fine example of the maestro’s ability to compose
music that both suited the visual images of the film maker and stirred the
emotions of the listener. The music was recorded in late 1978 and early 1979
at Vangelis’ Nemo Studios in London and is a breathtaking example of his
dexterity as a musician and composer. Released in 1979, the soundtrack album

remarkable body of recordings, featuring the classic theme “Hymne” and the
lengthy pieces “Reve” and “Flamants Roses”.
